Sebastien Haller
Run off the pitch when he scored. Who did he run over to?

Anelka did it, Haller does it, Cantona did it to a T

Common denominator = Mardy French

I think Kanoute did it to a degree as well

ironsofcanada - yes, Bobby used to do that a lot as well. Arsenal away (Highbury) when he turned Sol Campbell inside out to score that curling goal, I remember the other players tried to celebrate by jumping on his back and he looked utterly pissed off and wasn't having any of it.

I said near the beginning the thread, Zamora-like.

A few of his celebrations appear arrogant. A touch of the Anelkas about him I think.

I agree.

A lot of elements of a lot of our players' games have been shocking recently. We needed a change.

But it takes a short memory to think that Haller can't pass the ball. Our players look like they they just met for a couple months straight and there were still elements of that on New Years Day. But we have seen better and I have think some decent training sessions has to improve that.

We know Anderson, Lanzini, Snodgrass and even Yarmalenko can find the net. Haller adding goals is nice but playing so those players are near him and having him feed them can also bring us the success we have seen in fits and starts.

Re: Sebastien Haller
I think the point he's making is he can't assist someone who isn't there.

Yes his passing has been shocking lately, there's no denying that.

Beginning of the season his passing was fine.

He's definitely known more as a player who brings others into the play rather than an out and out goal scorer

Re: Sebastien Haller
What we need most of the time is some one who knows where the net is and has the skill to manoeuvre the ball into it.

Re: Sebastien Haller
Haller can obviously be a lot better than he has shown in the last couple months including his passing, even we have seen that but he still has a ways to go to achieve what Hernandez has.

Hernandez is on the down side of his career but has been an important part (even from the bench) of title winning teams. He was also a big part of taking a nation to the verge of seriously competing on the world stage.

He was not what we needed most of the time. And he went to Spain knowing he was not going to start, I assume. I could have told him that. But he has contributed in the Europa League as well (I remember a really nice free kick goal of all things.) I am sure he is very upset he left.

Re: Sebastien Haller
He's been poor but Moyes will get the best out of him. We saw some of that on Monday.

He's a target man who feeds off crosses and link-up play.

Moyes is smart at playing people in their best position.

Re: Sebastien Haller
I think Haller's attempted passes are often the right ones, at least. When it clicks, I think he will be setting up a few goals.

won a couple of premier leagues and become his countries all time top goalscorer in the process also.

Re: Sebastien Haller
Chica has achieved 1 goal in 9 league games this season and taken his customary place on the bench like at every single other club he's ever played for

dealcanvey 12:28 Fri Jan 3
Re: Sebastien Haller
Missing my point completely.

Sajmo said that Chica does not deserve to be compared to Haller because he got 10 assists last season.

Hernandez has achieved much more in the game than Haller ever will.

I like Haller but from what I have seen this season I dont see him setting up many goals. Very good finisher (like Hernandez), can hold the ball up (unlike Hernandez) but his passing needs alot of work and he lacks loads of pace.

Not bothered about his stats last year. He is no way near getting 10 assists this season.

ell no, as last year he set up many of Jovics goals, in fact Jovics stats without Haller were not very good at all compared to when they played together

this year he soesn't even have a partner

I like him, he’s got good feet, is big & powerful and can finish. Just need to work on his movement off the ball, though it’s difficult to teach a player to run the channels if it doesn’t come naturally.

Repeat what I said below. From what I have seen he looks a good finisher and can hold the ball up. Not seen anything else of merit yet.

Re: Sebastien Haller
That was the cross where it looked like he'd picked out Fornals for a tap in, only for a defender to come flying in from off screen last second to knock it out for a corner

boleynkid 6:41 Thu Jan 2
Re: Sebastien Haller
I would say he's a bit deceptive. Definitely not the quickest but probably not as slow as he seems. I remember one decent run down the line when he was going away from the defender and then showed his strength in taking a tackle and still coming away with the ball. Seem to recall a decent cross at the end of that run....maybe it was the one where Lanzini nearly scored with a header.

Re: Sebastien Haller
He doesnt look fit to me, seems back on his heels a lot of the time, not very quicker either. May could do with shedding 2 or 3 kilos. Good goal yesterday!
